About Me

My photo
I am a 29-ish yr old married mother of 8. My family is my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. My darling husband is my very best friend and together we are raising 8 of the best kids in the world! They are Rose(12) Sarah(12) Ammon(10) Malachi(8) Gabriel(7) Hannah(5) Maggie(4) and Abbie(3) We currently own 2 dogs, 1 bird, 5 chinchillas, 1,000,000 rabbits, 1 cat, 4.5 horses, and one ferret. We just purchased a home that is definately a "fixer-upper", with land and room for the kids to roam. Our goal is to run a mostly self sustaining farm and live in peace as we grow as a strong family unit. We have seen our fair share of hardships, but we are thankful for the many blessings the Lord gives us on a regular basis!

WHAT NOT TO WEAR!

Would SOMEBODY turn me in already! I mean I watch Stacy and Clinton all the time. I TRY to follow their rules...really, I do. But come on. Every time I think I have an outfit that looks good I see myself in a picture and want to cringe.
I don't just want the clothes! I want the hair... the makeup... the jewelry! The whole thing darn it!
Or maybe I could do that extreme makeover thing and get my teeth done too!
Okay I'm done with my little pity party...mostly. It's just that I'm really tired of looking so frumpy, and never allowing pictures to be taken on me with my kids because I don't want to be the scummy mom with t-shirts and jeans all the time.
Okay deep breath ... (sigh)

I cringe at pictures of myself all the time too. Except, now there is a wonderful thing called Photoshop that can take off my extra 20lbs, adjust the color of any mismatched clothes, get rid of loose hair or any skin blemishes, whiten teeth and everything. Sometimes I feel guilty about fixing myself up that way, but I squash that whenever it comes on. :)
Well, I really don't do all those things but I really do hate my pictures. But just remember that you're your own worst critic. Everyone else just says, "Oh, what a delightful picture" and moves on. Very few people out there are critiquing your outfit, hair, etc... It's easy to dole out the advise but, You'll notice VERY few pics of me on my blog either.

Oh Erica, too bad you don't live on this side of town anymore. I would take you shopping. It would be fun!

Cute kids by the way. They are all so big!

I can totally relate to this post! I am very rarely in any of the pics with my kids. When they get older and they ask me why I am not in the pics, I will just tell them I was spending so much time making them look cute, that by the time I was done, I was too exhausted to go doll up myself. Jeans and t-shirts are all I ever wear...I guess that's just official "Mommy Wear"! My hair is in a ponytail so much that my head hurts all the time and I only wear make up when I rally have to. Such is life, but I LOVE it! You just gotta' remember what I always tell myself..."I've got Mommy Style!" :0)

Ditto. Seeing a double chin in a pic of myself stinks!
