About Me

My photo
I am a 29-ish yr old married mother of 8. My family is my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. My darling husband is my very best friend and together we are raising 8 of the best kids in the world! They are Rose(12) Sarah(12) Ammon(10) Malachi(8) Gabriel(7) Hannah(5) Maggie(4) and Abbie(3) We currently own 2 dogs, 1 bird, 5 chinchillas, 1,000,000 rabbits, 1 cat, 4.5 horses, and one ferret. We just purchased a home that is definately a "fixer-upper", with land and room for the kids to roam. Our goal is to run a mostly self sustaining farm and live in peace as we grow as a strong family unit. We have seen our fair share of hardships, but we are thankful for the many blessings the Lord gives us on a regular basis!

My Sob Story...

Okay...
I went to the surgeon yesterday, only to find out that I DO NOT have a tumor! YAY! It's a cyst! (start rant about idiot doctors)
Any way the surgeon said I have three options:
1) Leave it alone and live with the pain. (not working so well for me)
2) Drain it with a needle... supposedly to give me 3 to 6 months of relief.
3)Have it surgically removed and never have to deal with it again.

Being that I am one of those "afraid of dying on the table, and leaving my husband to raise all of my children as a single parent until he meets some crazy woman who marries him and locks the children in an attic" types...I went for option #2!
No big deal...He jammed a 3 inch needle into my wrist and sucked out 3 tubes worth of junk. (this was a LOT LESS PAINFUL than it sounds!) There was instant relief and the bump disappeared immediately!

Then three hours later...IT CAME BACK! It is now twice the size and you can see it even when my hand is strait...as opposed to only when I bend my wrist.

EVERYBODY CRY WITH ME!

So what do I do now? I get to schedule surgery...Yay. (note hint of sarcasm) I was really hoping I could put it off...oh...FOREVER.

Oh, sad. My mom had those and hers had to be removed too. Sorry that you have to schedule it. But be comforted, you will make it out of this with your life intact! No scary, psycotic second wife for your hubby to deal with and if you work on your, "I'm in so much pain but trying to be brave" face now, you could acctually milk this for quite a lot. Plus, you'll probably get Lortab. yay. So, good luck and I'll be watching who you get to blog for you while you're incapacitated. :)

Wow, this is strangely reminiscent of my cysts I got with endometriosis. I was equally frustrated! They left them alone, they got bigger. They tried to drain them, no luck. I had surgery and when I went back for my 6 week check-up the were all back and, oh, bigger!

I totally feel your pain.

I think you are going to be just fine! Good luck with it all! You'll be in our prayers...

(Although I'm a worry-wart too except my worries are more trivial, like, "No one will do my daughter's hair right if anything happens to me, I can't die!")

How sad. I wish you didn't have to have a surgery. Good luck.

Ask Cali about having cysts drained when she was in high school. She played drums in the marching band and the padding on her carrier wasn't much help.

oh, sorry you have to have surgery though, I'm totally terrified of that too.

You'll be fine. Just don't forget to get a blessing before your surgery.
