About Me

My photo
I am a 29-ish yr old married mother of 8. My family is my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. My darling husband is my very best friend and together we are raising 8 of the best kids in the world! They are Rose(12) Sarah(12) Ammon(10) Malachi(8) Gabriel(7) Hannah(5) Maggie(4) and Abbie(3) We currently own 2 dogs, 1 bird, 5 chinchillas, 1,000,000 rabbits, 1 cat, 4.5 horses, and one ferret. We just purchased a home that is definately a "fixer-upper", with land and room for the kids to roam. Our goal is to run a mostly self sustaining farm and live in peace as we grow as a strong family unit. We have seen our fair share of hardships, but we are thankful for the many blessings the Lord gives us on a regular basis!

My New Hero...

I don't know how many of you know who this woman is. Her name is Irena Sendler. I learned about her last night as I watched the new Hallmark movie about her life story. Then I did further research today via the internet. In the course of 2 1/2 years she rescued 2500 children from the ghetto in Warsaw Poland durring the German occupation in WWII. One at a time, she and several colleagues smuggled Jewish babies and children through under ground sewers, in coffins, in wheel barrows, in ambulances and even a tool box!
She not only saved these children from certain death but re-homed them and kept record of where the children were being sent so that they could one day be reunited with their Jewish families!
The truly amazing thing to me is that when she was finally captured. She endured three months of torture where her legs and feet were broken and her teeth pulled. Yet, she NEVER reveled any information about the people who helped her or the where abouts of the children. She lived to be 98 years old and was never happy with how "few" children she was able to save.
I'd like to think that I would be as courageous as this woman if I were in the same situation but I guess you never know how you'd react to a given situation until you're in it.
(PS. In 2007 she was nominated for the nobel peace prize but it was granted to Al Gore for his work in the documentory about Global Warming! - I am ashamed to know that the human race has come to this!)

Everybody say "Election Day!"

The kiddos got first hand voting experience today! That's right, at 8:30 this morning, they all piled into the Leschorn Limo with me as we headed off to our polling location. We sat in line for 1 1/2 hours and then we got to cast our vote as a family!
I know I could have done an early ballot, and to be honest, that was my intention. I just never got around to requesting it. Now that it's all said and done though, I'm glad I did it this way! I hope that my children realize how important it is that the American people let their voices be hear.
Even if we are not in the majority, and Obama wins, I can just feel the excitement in the air! This is a historic event in any case! There are record turn outs in voters and no matter who is elected there will be a first!

This is the line we waited in. I didn't think to take pictures of it until after we were done voting but I thought I should take them for historic purposes!

OMG!

http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1815820715?bctid=1822459319

A friend of mine had this link on her blog! It is very similar to the Prop 102 here in AZ. If it is legal to teach children about this in public school with out parental notification what is stopping them from teaching them about sex or any other moral issue?
Forget about whether gay marriage is right or wrong! Where are the rights of the parents? What about the child's right to stay Innocent? Do we need to amend the constitution to include the specific rights of CHILDREN? Of course you KNOW that's not gonna happen, because then Roe v Wade could be thrown out!
Come on people! This is NOT what our founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the stinkin' constitution! They wanted to PROTECT the INNOCENT... not corrupt them!
